ongoing thoughts june 4

It would be helpful to have gender and sexual identity crisis among other internal components like anxiety, depression, puberty/maturing. When someone has anxiety but they don't know what it's called or what it's like, they're not sure if there's is normal or severe, if they will be sent to a mental asylum or just shrugged off for sharing. It's not as large of a crisis because it's mentioned fairly early in schooling (although not early enough in my opinion). Gender and sexual identity was not mentioned in my upbringing anywhere, and in the current generation is brought up even later, even further prolonging the detriment. When things are pushed back so far into development, development doesn't happen as healthily as it could, and people are left trying to catch up too late in life, causing even more difficulties.
I think there is a hesitancy to mention certain things because there isn't a clear answer on how it should be taught. E.g. "If you have homosexual feelings, you should go see a psychiatrist just like you would if you had bipolar disorder." vs. "If you have homosexual feelings, you should talk to your friends or counselor, just like you would if you were unsure if everyone was feeling nervous about the upcoming test."
Related: it would be helpful if Christians would not choose to overemphasize certain sins over others. An extreme example: homosexuality over speeding. One does effect your lifestyle more than the other, but not enough to cause the difference in scale that I see in general. You sin and God accepted you as you are. They've sinned (or not, in my opinion, depending on actions taken), so accept them as they are. This is the precise reason there are tenets of faith. Usually the tenet of repentance is what causes the issue here, but review it and make sure you've come to the right conclusions about the definition of repentance and also review how you should treat an unrepentant believer.
